Hi, I'm Lara, a modern celebrant based in the Lake District, covering all of the North West (and willing to travel anywhere!)
I live in South Cumbria with my little tribe - my husband, two children and our bonkers Springer Spaniel, Willow.
I've always been told I'm a very positive person - I like to think of it as a mini superpower, helping people find the glimmers of sunshine in even the darkest of moments! I am a good listener and love any excuse to get people together, whether that's for dinner, for a belly laugh while hiking up a mountain (with a celebratory gin at the top, of course), or for a full-on party to dance like no-one's watching. Life is for living and should be celebrated at every opportunity!
I've been writing for a living for the last 17 years - and I love it. I studied journalism at university before starting a career in communications and public relations.
I'm also no stranger to the stage as, from a young girl growing up in Wales, I was surrounded by music and, particularly, choirs (they're super cool in Wales, trust me). I couldn't wait to join one, and I was up on stage from a super early age - in amateur musicals, through to choral concerts when I was older. Before I got married, I was even part of a three-part girl group, performing at weddings, birthdays and mini festivals!
I've written poems and readings for friends' weddings and have prepared eulogies for family funerals, so when a friend suggested I look at celebrancy, I got so excited! I couldn't think of anything more 'me' - and haven't stopped thinking about it since...
